12 Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists -- a School Record!
Twelve Sage Hill School seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for 2020 -- a new school record!
Congratulations to Jennifer Cai, Darcy Chung, Albert Gang, Timothy Guo, Ryan Hosseinzadeh, Olivia Kaneko, Kayla Kim, Alexander Kwon, Valentina Lin, Kate Mlouk, Amin Sajjadian and Jeffrey Walbridge. They all qualified for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their PSAT scores from last October.
Approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named in this year’s 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, representing less than one percent of high school seniors in the United States.
The program “honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies,” according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. Finalists will be awarded more than $31 million in scholarships next spring. Half of all finalists will win a scholarship and earn the Merit Scholar title.
