Chemistry Olympiad Team Places Third in County Competition

Sage Hill School’s Chemistry Olympiad team, comprised of Ian Grimm, Emily Lam, Albert Gang and Sana Manesh, placed third in the county on Saturday, March 2.

The Chemistry Olympiad is an annual event in which high schools send their four best chemistry students to compete against other teams.

“We were able to beat some chemistry powerhouse schools and were only a few points away from the two top schools that are known to be consistent contenders each year,” said chemistry teacher Anie Robinson.

On top of the team’s third-place finish, Grimm individually got the third highest score in the county with a 56/60. This qualifies him to move on to the national competition in April.

Grimm also recently took the F=ma (a regional Physics Olympiad exam) and qualified for the national physics exam exam on April 2. He also qualified as a semifinalist at the USA Biology Olympiad and will take the semifinal exam this month.
