Sage defeats Whitney to take second in Academy League

Last Thursday evening in our final league game, the boys’ varsity team proved that it is a force to reckon with. We completely dominated the game against Whitney.  We are proud of our team’s overall performance. You know it’s a good game when you enjoy watching it; it’s that simple. The Lightning played well, using the width, attacking collectively, and taking many great shots. The team also played great defense on transition led by player of the game, Michael Bear. We looked poised and collected and we played as a unit. Every player was able to touch the ball and everyone made good decisions. Overall, we looked comfortable against a very decent and well-coached team.

The first goal came off a great shot from Colton Gyulay, to the upper left hand side corner. The keeper had no chance on that one. The shot was both precise and powerful. Shortly in the second half, Blake Myers crossed a great ball from the left hand side. Nick Singarella was in the right place for this one. He collected the ball nicely and shot it firmly past the left-hand side of Whitney’s keeper.
