Sage Center Speaker Series: "Legends, Icons, and Rebels"
Jim Guerinot is the owner of Rebel Waltz, an entertainment company based in Laguna Beach. Previous management clients include Beck, Social Distortion, Nine Inch Nails, Gwen Stefani & No Doubt, Rancid, Chris Cornell, The Offspring, and Robbie Robertson. Prior to this, Jim was a concert promoter and the General Manager of A&M Records. Jim graduated from UC Irvine in 1985 with a B.A. in English. Jim co-wrote the children’s book, “Legends, Icons, and Rebels” which came out in 2013. Jim also filled in as producer of the documentary film, “20 Feet From Stardom” when his friend and mentor from A&M, Gil Friesen, passed away. The film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Documentary. In June of 2019 Jim gave the commencement address to the Humanities students at UC Irvine. 2020 will be the fifth year that Jim has taught AP U.S. History for 11th graders, in a one-week, 20-hour series focused on the' 60s. Jim has four children: Emily, Luke, Veronica and Jessica.
