St. Margaret’s Edges Lightning in first Academy League Boys Tennis Match of Season

The Lightning, starting three freshman, almost toppled a senior laden Tartan team in boy’s Academy League Tennis. The two teams were tied 3-3 after the first round as freshman Omeed Moini, sophomore Kenan Torlic, and doubles team made up of junior’s Shayan Emtiaz and Gordon Strelow won matches. In the second round St. Margaret’s took four as Sage could only win two as freshman Adam Langevin won in singles and senior David Kim and freshman Grant Janavas won in doubles. With the Tartans leading 7-5 the Lightning needed to take four in the final round. They came close, winning three with Langevin and Moini winning in singles and senior Eric Magliarditi and junior Kian Etedali winning in doubles.

Sage is now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Academy League while St. Margaret’s is 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league. The Lightning host the Compass Team Tournament at The Tennis Club of Newport Beach this Friday and Saturday with Newport Harbor and Woodbridge. St. Margaret’s 10, Sage Hill 8
