Wellness Program Leads to Senior’s Deeper Interest In Yoga
Wellness at Sage Hill School has always been more than a passing conversation. The Wellness Program serves as a learning modality for students to really understand and discover themselves while also gaining the ability to monitor their own health and well-being. Students immerse themselves in activities and discussions on topics like mental health, stress management and even healthy relationships.

The emphasis on wellness really resonated with student Elizabeth Casey ‘22, who recently completed a yoga certification after taking four years of yoga with Merja Connolly, Wellness Director and yoga instructor.

“My first experience with wellness at Sage Hill was during freshman Wellness Wednesdays,” Casey said. “Coach Connolly is such a great advocate to have on campus, and I have loved getting to know her better during my time in yoga class.”

Surprised by her continued enjoyment of yoga and its help in managing her mental health, Casey decided that taking a deep dive into yoga and getting certified would be fascinating and a good way for her to work while she attends college next fall.

“Our focus in all Physical Health classes and our Wellness program is to help our students practice good habits,” Coach Connolly said. “I am thrilled that Elizabeth is now certified to help teach others. She is a great role model, and I am so proud of her.”
