Sage Hill Entrepreneurs Pitch Device to Tackle Chronic Pain
Sage Hill students Kamran ‘24 and Nadia Ansari ‘22 tackle the global issue of chronic pain with their new device -- a wearable Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) device called Shift. Over the last two and a half years, Kamran has designed, built and tested the device in order to allow chronic pain sufferers an opportunity to seamlessly integrate an effective on-demand PEMF therapy into their daily lives.
Kamran was inspired to develop the device by his sister Nadia -- a chronic pain advocate who also lives with chronic pain. She has done extensive work to bring awareness to the issue of chronic pain and has even had the opportunity to produce an award-winning documentary that has helped to educate the public about chronic pain in youth -- read more about her documentary here.
In early 2021, Kamran and Nadia entered and participated in the Diamond Challenge competition -- the largest high school entrepreneurship competition across the United States and 55 countries. In March of 2021, they participated in the Southern California regional pitch competition and were chosen as the sole company to represent Southern California in the “Business Innovation” category at the Diamond Challenge Global Entrepreneurial Summit. In April, at the Summit, they competed against teams from around the world and were named one of the top four Global Business Innovations.
