Senior Awarded Two Scholarships, Including $1,000 Grant to Sage Hill

Senior Grant Sheen has recently been awarded with two scholarships, including one that also offers a grant to Sage Hill School as part of the recognition.

Sheen won a $2,500 AXA Achievement Scholarship, which goes to students who “demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities,” according to its website. Along with his scholarship, Sage Hill will receive a $1,000 grant to be used for professional development activities.

The Student Research Foundation also named Sheen the first-place winner in its Personal Achievement Scholarship. He will receive $15,000, and was selected from a pool of more than 7,000 applicants across the country.

Sheen said he plans to study computer science and business/economics in college, and he is currently deciding between Stanford University and UPenn's Management & Technology program.

This past year, Sheen has been recognized for developing a wireless, mobile system that allows people with Alzheimer’s to communicate their desire to rest, read, walk or eat.

“[In college,] I am looking forward to expanding my passion for computer science by learning how to use Artificial Intelligence to solve pressing human issues,” Sheen said.
