Student Club Recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education
Sage Hill School’s student-formed Solving the Summer Learning Gap Club has been recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.

Through advocacy and action, the club raises awareness and takes practical actions to reduce this learning gap, according to junior Farooq Ansari. In addition to meeting with and presenting to political leaders in Orange County, the club has also developed and delivered a weeklong "Math & Basketball" program to the Boys & Girls Club on two occasions, and plan to implement this program again this summer.

DeVos wrote a letter to Ansari earlier this month commending the program’s effort to support student learning during the summer months.

“Through continued efforts like yours, I believe that all children will gain access to schools that meet their needs and will have the opportunity to reach their full potential,” DeVos wrote.
