Sage Hill’s Megan Cid Named Athletic Director of the Year

By Kelly Abbate
Sage Hill School’s Director of Athletics Megan Cid has been named the Athletic Director of the Year by the Orange County Athletic Director’s Association -- one of the highest honors for high school athletics administrators.

Cid first came to Sage Hill in 2003 as a girls’ soccer coach and has served as Director of Athletics for more than a decade. In her two decades at the school, she has built a dynamic, student-centered athletics program rooted in teamwork, resilience and school spirit.

Earlier this year, Cid also received Sage Hill’s Elizabeth A. Resnick Award, presented annually to an employee whose contributions to the school go above and beyond.

“Receiving both of these honors in the same year is incredibly meaningful to me,” Cid said. “I am so proud of what we have built together at Sage Hill -- not just our athletic success, but the way our community rallies around our student athletes. None of this would be possible without our amazing coaches, staff and students who bring energy, heart and Lightning pride to everything they do.”

At Sage Hill, Cid’s impact extends far beyond managing teams and coaches. She oversees schedules, staffing, facility use, transportation and league participation -- all while fostering a culture that prioritizes the growth and well-being of every student athlete.

“No matter the challenge, she always shows up with a smile -- and a box of green and white pom-poms for Lightning fans to wave from the stands,” said Head of School Patricia Merz.

Under Cid’s leadership and clear vision, Sage Hill’s athletics program has flourished. Her efforts to move Sage Hill into the Orange County area of CIF opened new levels of competition for the school’s teams and helped them thrive on a larger stage. This year, she continues to be a leader in the Pacific Coast Conference, championing fairness and meaningful athletic experiences for all student athletes.

“Significant. Tireless. Selfless. These are three words that truly define Megan Cid,” Merz said. “I could not be more proud and grateful for all she has done for Sage Hill School over the last 20-plus years."
