Ever wonder why some movies make you laugh, cry, or shout “WHAT?!” at the screen? In this fun and interactive class, students will become movie critics while watching child-appropriate films from different decades. We’ll talk about likes and dislikes, uncover what makes a story work, and even explore the most heart-breaking plot twists of all time (no spoilers—just great discussion!). Students will kick things off by brainstorming what makes a “good movie,” then dive into a variety of screenings followed by group discussions and a friendly debate. Along the way, they’ll learn how to write short critiques, rate movies based on a multitude of criteria (story, characters, music, visuals), and share their opinions with confidence and respect. To wrap it up, students will design a creative movie critique poster that shows off their ideas and ratings. This course is perfect for movie lovers who want to think deeper, speak up and see films in a whole new way. 🎥✨
