Sage Center

Designated Courses

What are Sage Center designated courses?

These courses focus on development and reflection of the core competencies: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, cross-cultural competency, creativity and character. Additionally, some of the courses feature experiential learning opportunities designed to connect students with real-world applications of course content.

Designated Course Requirements

The successful completion of at least four Sage Center Designated Courses is a new graduation requirement starting with the Class of 2025. During their freshman and sophomore years, every student will take two required Designated Courses: Patterns of Civilization and English II, along with the attached Service Learning experience for each.

In their junior and senior years, students will be able to choose from a broad selection of other Designated Courses to fulfill the requirement.
