Sage Hill vs. Oxford

Frosh/Soph scores for girls volleyball match against Oxford: Sage won the match with scores of 25-16, 21-25, and 15-13 The Frosh/Soph girls volleyball team opened league play with a win against oxford Academy. They were able to close out a tight match that took three games to win. The girls showed improvement in their play after completing a weekend of volleyball where they played in the Frosh/Soph tournament in Irvine at University High School. Lot’s of play time for everyone helped moved the Lightning team to a higher level of play that was evident in Tuesday’s match against Oxford. They played with more confidence on the floor and were more successful with running their offense and returning serves. They are still working to improve their own serves during matches but they are on their way to a good league start. Leading the team with improved setting was Rochelle Rouhani and Phoebe Van Duinen. Strong play from our Libero player Caitlin Nguyen kept the match close. Good hitting and blocking from the middle came from Carlyn Kane and freshman Celeste Broderick. McKenna Weinstein offered some strong play from the Outside hitters spot. The Frosh/Soph team will be in action again Friday when they take on Whitney.
