Sage Hill defeated CIF D2 #4 ranked Oxford Academy 12-6 to give them their first Academy League loss and drop them to 2-1 in league and 9-2 overall. Sage is 4-3 overall and 2-1 in Academy League. Every team in the league now has at least one loss. Sage plays Whitney on Tuesday with a bye on Friday before starting the second round of league play.
Sage took 7 of 9 singles and 5 of 9 doubles for the 12-6 win. Jaclyn Gerschultz, Sage’s #2 singles player, swept all 3 matches, while #3 Sage singles Amira Tarsadia took 2 of 3 and Sage #1 Celine Wang was 1 for 1 before having to be replaces when she fell ill by Natalie Meltzer, who won in the last round.
In doubles Briana Rayhaun/Connie Yu at #1 doubles went 1 for 3, Tess Alexander/Marina Anderson at #2 went 2 for 3 as did #3 Crystal Yu/Abby Ruck.
