New Equestrian Team

The First Sage Hill School Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL) team competed at the Oaks in San Juan Capistrano the weekend of October 3rd and 4th.  The IEL club team from Sage Hill School was founded this fall by sophomore captain Sasha Swerdlow.  Team members include sophomore captain Casey Astorino, junior captain Lauren Palley, as well as, junior students Angela Bao, Heather Zadra, Jocelyn Neff and Charlotte Gadbios, and freshmen students Kristina Hermanson, Emma Overly, Euan Rugg, Anya Manolakas and Liana Korber.

These student-athletes are incredible.  The time commitment, hard work and courage to compete in this demanding sport are something everybody should applaud.  Our Sage Hill team spent close to 10 hours over the weekend in preparation and competition.  The team immediately earned the attention of the Southern California IEL community, finishing the weekend with a Saturday and Sunday win of JV Reserve Champions.  In addition, Casey Astorino won Saturday's JV Jumper Division as Champion!

"I am so proud of what Sasha has started and how the team has already bonded," said Coach Connolly, Department Chair for Physical Education.  "I was thrilled to see the level of our Hunter, Jumper and Western riders-they represented Sage Hill with excellence and sportsmanship.  It was a great start to the show season for Sage Hill School."

Future competition dates are November 7-8, December 5-6 and January 9-10.
