Sage's First Home Game - Defeats Tustin High School: 15-6

Rebounding from their opening loss, Sage took on Tustin HS and showed what they are capable of when it comes to team play. There are many "stats" to talk about so let's get to them: Max Ellison, one of our co-captains, had 8 goals along with 2 assists, and won virtually every face-off. Brendan Killaly, a co-captain, scored 2 goals, with 1 assist, and likewise won many face-offs. Justin Barbour, our third co-captain, and who has played virtually every position except goalie, had an equally great game, picking up numerous ground balls and involved in many "hustle plays."

Mark Milner went for the hat trick, scoring 3 goals, with 2 assists, and several ground balls and hustle plays. Taylor Ross, scored 2 goals, and was given credit for many ground balls and hustle plays. Frank Shapiro, despite limited minutes, had a big assist in the first quarter leading to a goal, and was involved in hustle plays. I was also pleased to see Sammy Witte, David Fenner, and Max Potkin play well. Several freshman were also able to get some minutes of playing time.

Finally, last but certainly not least, Sam Simon, our goalie, played a tremendous game, recording 11 saves with 34 shots on goal.

Likewise, our defense stepped up big time with Craig Jackson, TJ Danner, Michael Ramming, Alec Van Hoogenstyn and Ford Hanour all contributing. It was great to see the team effort and I expect it will continue when we face our next opponent, University High School.
