Varsity loses to powerhouse Rio Hondo Prep.

The varsity football team ran into a very strong Rio Hondo team on Friday. The Kares jumped out early with a blocked punt that resulted in a touchdown. The Lightning were unable to slow down the potent running game for Rio Hondo and ended up losing 53-0. Despite the loss, the team benefitted from the return of running back Jelani Reynolds who ran 12 times for 54 yards, averaging 5 yards per carry. The team also saw strong contributions from defensive lineman Adam Donchess with 7 tackles. The Lightning will try to bounce back this week when they travel to Oceanside to take on Tri-City Christian on Saturday at 6pm.
