Celebrated Storyteller Teaches Masterclass, Performs October 2
Grammy-award winning storyteller David Holt will teach a masterclass during X block on Friday, October 2 and will stay into the evening to deliver a performance at 7 PM in the Studio’s Black Box Theatre. Holt is a musician, storyteller, historian, television host and entertainer who is dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music and stories.

He plays 10 acoustic instruments and has released numerous recordings of traditional mountain music and southern folktales. Holt’s songs and tales from the last 20 years are now a part of the permanent collection of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The U.S. State Department has sponsored his performances in many parts of the world as a musical ambassador.

He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara magna cum laude in biology and art and later headed to the southeastern mountains to pursue his interests in traditional music and storytelling by immersing himself in the folk culture of western North Carolina.
