Strength & Conditioning Program Prepares Student Athletes for New League Competition

By: Maurisa Jones
As Sage Hill steps into a new school year, the Lightning Athletics program gears up to compete in a new athletic league – the CIF-Southern Section Pacific Coast League.

While this change will provide some additional competitive equity for Sage Hill’s athletic teams, it also brings on an exciting challenge.

To help Lightning athletes continue to rise to the occasion, the Athletics Department is excited to implement a brand new Strength and Conditioning program that was designed to begin with summer athletic camps and run throughout the year. This new program will analyze the demand of each sport and develop a program that includes traditional weight lifting, plyometrics, and sport-specific speed and agility training.

The goal of this new Strength and Conditioning program is to ensure all student athletes have the best opportunity to reach their maximum potential both mentally and physically in their sport of play.

“The combination of our recent success and the move to the Pacific Coast League reiterated to us the need for an emphasis on our Strength and Conditioning program,” said Assistant Athletic Director and Strength & Conditioning Coach Ricky Sharpe. “This will give our athletes the opportunity to learn healthy lifelong habits, as well as prepare their bodies and minds for their upcoming athletic seasons.”
