Sage Hill School's Camp Sage Program Provides Students With Experiences That Lead Down New Paths

By Maurisa Jones
Arietta Goshtasby arrived on the Sage Hill School campus for the first time in 2018 as a camper at Camp Sage not knowing what would come of the experience. Now a high school junior at Sage Hill, her time at Camp Sage sparked an interest that has led her to start a coding club on campus, develop an app that encourages reflection, and now teach her own course at the camp four years later.

“Camp Sage is what originally piqued my interest in coding,” said Arietta. “At the time I got to learn from two other Sage Hill students who were teaching the coding class –  it feels really full circle that I get to teach two coding classes this summer, Sage Hill Coders: Build AI! and Sage Hill Coders: Build Websites!”

Summer at Sage and Camp Sage has provided middle and high school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in unique experiences on Sage Hill’s state-of-the-art campus since 2018. Camp experiences like Business adVENTURE, where students pitch their business ideas in a Shark Tank-style competition, and GenHERration Exploration, where girls grades 7-12 push the limits and interface with industry experts from notable companies from across the country, will challenge students to think big now and in the future.

“We offer campers a first-hand look at what Sage Hill School has to offer,” said Registrar and Director of Auxiliary Programs, Lynette Swanson. “We hope that they will walk away with new friendships and skills that spark a passion to learn more!”

Summer at Sage is open to students from all schools and offers credit courses, middle school summer camps and a plethora of enrichment workshops that run through the week of August 8.
