Alumna is ‘Woman of the Year’ for Surfing Walk of Fame
Alumna and professional surfer Courtney Conlogue ‘10 will be inducted into the Surfing Walk of Fame as “Woman of the Year” on August 1 in Huntington Beach.
Honorees are chosen annually by surf industry veterans, former professionals, current inductees and surf journalists, according to Surfline.com.
Conlogue has had an impressive surfing career, which began when she was a young girl. She won an X Games Gold Medal at the age of 14, and won her first U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach at age 17. She won the U.S. Open again nine years later, in July 2018.
She is a two-time runner-up to the World Title (in 2015 and 2016), and right now she sits at #4 on the 2019 Women’s Championship Tour.
Conlogue is currently in South Africa to compete in the Corona Open J-Bay, as part of the Women’s Championship Tour. She most recently won the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach competition in April.
For those interested in attending the induction ceremony, it takes place at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 1 in front of Jack’s Surfboards on the corner of Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.
