Annual Multicultural Fair Draws Community Together for Festive Fun

The 18th annual Multicultural Fair at Sage Hill was a festive day full of food, performances, community -- and great weather.

“I love the casual festival atmosphere of the Multicultural Fair; sitting on blankets, hanging out with colleagues and their kids and enjoying the incredible food and music in Town Square,” said founding faculty member and Wellness Coordinator Merja Connolly-Freund. “It is usually a beautiful spring day and so the sunshine and colors of the booths add another peaceful and fun element. This year the sunshine was especially welcome as the last few months have been cold and rainy.”

All members of the Sage Hill community and beyond were invited to campus for the afternoon. Town Square was transformed into a global village with more than 15 international food booths, entertainment, hands-on activities for all ages and much more.

“I can’t remember a year where there were more student performances. They were all incredible!” Connolly-Freund said.

In addition to current students and families, this year’s event also saw a lot of familiar faces in the form of Sage Hill alumni.

“It was so wonderful to see alumni back on campus supporting Multicultural Fair.” said Maggie Colburn, alumni liaison. “Not only were they attending the fair but we also had some alums, such as Mackenna Strohmeier, perform during the day. I hope to see even more alumni attend next year.”
