5 Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Five Sage Hill School seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for 2019.

Congratulations to Luke Nataupsky, Jack Peng, Sydney Schell, Ryan Simpson and William Stomber! They all qualified for the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their PSAT scores. In the last 10 years, Sage Hill has produced 51 semifinalists, with 46 of those becoming finalists.

Approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named in this year’s 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The program “honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies,” according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. Finalists will be awarded more than $31 million in scholarships next spring. Half of all finalists will win a scholarship and earn the Merit Scholar title.
