Guest Chef Series Will Continue Next Year in Sage Hill Cafe

The Sage Hill Cafe played host to two student guest chefs in April and May, and the program will continue once a month during the 2018-2019 school year.

“We would like to take this time to recognize and thank our first two guest chefs, junior Jonathan Stark and sophomore Jake Stewart,” said Barbara Stoner, senior chef manager at the Sage Hill Cafe. “It takes courage and imagination to walk into unfamiliar territory and create a great meal for hundreds of your peers.”

With guidance from Executive Chef Laura Catala, the student chefs created, planned, priced and executed the menu of their choice.

Stark took over the kitchen on Friday, April 13, with a menu of chicken marsala and cacio e pepe with a side salad. The vegetarian option was spaghetti pomodoro.

Stewart’s menu, served up on Friday, May 18, was seared salmon filet with bacon-roasted Brussels sprouts and cauliflower mash. For a vegetarian options, students could order panko-crusted tofu.

“The Cafe looks forward to hosting many more students who want to take an opportunity to step into our world and feed their friends, classmates and instructors,” Stoner said. “The Sage Hill Cafe Guest Chef Series will resume in September, and we can't wait to see who wants to be our next guest chef!”

Letters of intent will be accepted through the summer months at cafe@sagehillschool.org.
