Homecoming: A Week of Spirit, Football and Dance

Homecoming: A Week of Spirit, Football and Dance

Homecoming Week is officially over, but the memories made will last a lifetime.

A week of dress-up themes including pajamas and sports jerseys culminated with the Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday, October 6. The Sage Hill campus was covered in class colors - freshman orange, sophomore red, junior blue and senior green.

During the pep rally, the classes competed in Bubble Soccer, with the seniors coming out on top in a final match-up with the freshmen. But when it came to their class skits, the juniors upset the seniors with their Monsters Inc.-inspired performance.

Later that evening, the Homecoming Tailgate was held on campus, with food trucks from Soho Taco, Ninjas with Appetite, Nostimo, The Viking Truck and The Burnt Truck. Members from all over the Sage Hill community attended the event, which featured music, games and giveaways.

Our Lightning football team battled hard against visiting Animo Robinson, but fell 46-20. The team’s record is still very strong at 6-1 on the season so far.

"I'm so proud of the boys' effort on Friday," Coach B.J. Crabtree said. "They played hard, and battled through adversity that we hadn't felt this season. We battled through a rough start of the game, and battled back in the second half, and that is the sign of a team with character and belief in each other."

The team now has a couple weeks off before playoffs, which will give them a chance to clean things up and to get fully healthy, Crabtree said.

"I can't thank the Sage Hill community enough for their awesome turnout for our game. Though we never like losing, it did feel great to feel such strong support.  We appreciate you," Crabtree said.

Rounding out Homecoming weekend was the Homecoming Dance -- this year it was a semi-formal occasion held in the Lower Library with a theme of “Candyland.”

“The dance was really successful!” Dean of School Life Jon Poffenberger said.

More than 350 students and guests attended and embraced this year’s change from casual dress to more formal attire.
