Publications Staff Wins First-Place Awards for The Bolt, Storm
Four students won first-place awards from the American Scholastic Press Association, along with top honors for both The Bolt student newspaper and the Storm yearbook.

The Bolt won first place in the newspaper category and the Storm won first place in the yearbook category under the direction of Publications Adviser Konnie Krislock.

“This is the first time either The Bolt or Storm have won national awards, and I am thrilled for the efforts of Sage students who work during X Blocks each year, all year, to bring these outstanding publications and their student voices to the community,” Ms. Krislock said.

Individually, sophomore Trevor Klein won first place in the Outstanding Story (non-school related) category for his piece called “The Italian Incident.”

“The Perfect Storm” by senior designers Emma Ruck, Vale Lewis and artist Lynn Fong won first place in the Outstanding Art category for yearbooks.

ASPA is a national organization that rates and gives out awards to publications who enter from middle schools to colleges.

“We value their professional judges' opinions, which help improve our publications through their guidance and comments,” Ms. Krislock said.

Ms. Krislock, who is retiring at the end of the school year, is so proud of her staff’s work ethic and dedication.

“This group of 17 seniors, especially, has been outstanding,” she said. “I shall miss them.”
