The Sage Hill Lightning Boys’ Varsity Tennis team won the Prep Classic at home on Saturday, March 11. Sage Hill participated in the tournament for the past 14 years, but this is the team’s first victory.
Sage Hill defeated two-time defending champion Windward Academy, and Sage Hill also defeated Oaks Christian by shutting out both teams 9-0. Each round was the best of 9 pro-set matches, 5 singles and 4 doubles with players allowed to play both singles and doubles.
Sage Hill senior Adam Langevin earned Singles MVP honors as he went 3-0, defeating each of the other schools’ number one players.
Sage Hill sophomore Robert Gerschultz, junior Ian Huang, and sophomore Emin Torlic were all named to the All-Tournament Team.
“Congratulations to the Lightning Boys’ Tennis team,” said Sage Hill Athletic Director Megan Cid. “I know that Coach Korac is extremely pleased with the outcome of the tournament and he has done a phenomenal job working with our student-athletes in this impressive win.”
