Students Shatter Records with Writing Awards
Seventeen Sage Hill students were recognized for outstanding writing achievement in a variety of genres and four students received prestigious Gold Awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. This is the largest number of Sage Hill students to receive recognition by the competition as well as earn Gold Awards, according to Sage Hill English teacher Arlie Parker.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become a part of the community—young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors, video game artists and science fiction writers, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.

Sage Hill students were recognized for accomplishments in humor, fiction, science fiction, personal essays, and poetry. Students’ works will move on to receive consideration for honors at the national level.
