Sage Hill Decathletes Prep for Second Day of Competition
Eight Sage Hill students are competing in the Orange County Academic Decathlon (OCAD), a two-day event including 10 scholastic contests. Teams compete for the highest score on exams, speeches, interviews and essay assignments. Day one of the OCAD began Saturday, January 30, 2015 and will continue on Saturday, February 6, at Westminster High School.

All teams must have students who meet specific GPA requirements to participate. On February 6, Sage Hill Decathletes will take 30-minute multiple-choice tests in the areas of art, language and literature, mathematics, music, science and social science. Each area, with the exception of math, will be based on this year’s theme, which is India.

Sage Hill Decathletes include:

• Seniors: Connor Chung, Kitra Razin, Martin Shin
• Juniors: Christina Acevedo, Andrea Flores, Krystal Gallegos
• Sophomores: Farooq Ansari, Emma Rafatjoo

Winning teams will move on to compete at the California Academic Decathlon.

The OCAD was founded in 1968 and serves as the model for all prestigious Academic Decathlon events that now exist at state and national levels. Its purpose is to develop and provide academic programming, curriculum, and assessment to promote learning and academic excellence.
