JCL Students Win 27 Awards at Virtual SCRAM Competition
Students in Sage Hill’s Junior Classical League (JCL) participate in the annual Southern California Regional Amici Madness (SCRAM) competition on Saturday, November 21.
High school students throughout Southern California participate in this annual event, with different schools hosting the event each year. Sage Hill hosted SCRAM on our campus in November 2019. This year’s virtual event was hosted by University High School and all competitions were held via YouTube Live, Zoom and Discord. It was an action-packed day full of games, academic testing, workshops, art and more.
“It was a different experience not being able to join my students in person and watch all the frenzy and buzz that normally occurs with SCRAM. Despite that, all the students reported having a great time and that the students at Uni did a great job of adapting many of the familiar events and activities to the virtual setting,” said Latin teacher and JCL advisor Jeffrey Feland.
He said he was very impressed with the overall performance of Sage Hill students in testing and events.
“It just shows how well-prepared and engaged our Sage Hill students have continued to be throughout this time,” Feland said. “Our JCL chapter has remained active and made progress -- a true testament to their resiliency, determination and skill.”
This year, 28 Sage Hill students participated, winning a combined 27 awards.
