Seniors Named San Joaquin League Athletes of the Year

Two Sage Hill athletes have been named the San Joaquin League Athletes of the Year: seniors Sydney McCord and Jason Schreiber.

This is the highest honor in league competition, and it is the first time in Sage Hill School history that both athletes have come from our school in the same year, according to Director of Athletics Megan Cid.

McCord is a multi-sport athlete who has competed in both soccer and track and field. She was selected as first team all-league in soccer and has been the league champion in multiple events in track and field.

Most recently, at the CIF Prelims for track and field, she broke her own school record in the 200-meter and improved on her relay team’s own school record in the 4x100-meter. Running with such speed has qualified her and her relay teammates for the CIF-SS Finals next weekend at El Camino College.

Schreiber has been dedicated to the sport of swimming for many years. He has been the league champion in multiple events and holds Sage Hill school records in eight events. In the recent CIF-SS Division 3 Finals, he became the CIF Individual Champion in two events: the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200-meter individual medley.

Not only did he break his own school record in both events, but he broke a 10-year-old CIF-SS record in the 200 IM.

“We are so honored to have these wonderful young athletes representing Sage Hill,” Cid said.
