Sage Hill’s rigorous curriculum challenges and inspires students to take risks, think critically, and find real-world applications for what they learn. With classes averaging just 16 students, our world-class teachers are able to engage their students in riveting discussions that foster a passion for learning. Curriculum offerings include more than Advanced Placement and accelerated courses across disciplines, as well as a broad selection of fascinating electives.
College counseling begins freshman year at Sage Hill School. Our Dean of Ninth and Tenth Grade College Counseling is accessible to students from the start of high school. In the ninth grade, students meet with the Dean in small group planning sessions to get their high school experience off to the best possible start; in addition, workshops and coffees help to demystify the college process for parents. In the tenth grade, the Dean meets with privately with each family to develop a flexible academic and co-curricular plan, not only to position the student for college admissions, but also to make the most of high school opportunities. Juniors transition to one of three upperclass college counselors who guide the highly personalized process with a focus on introspection, independent thinking, and informed decision. Our counselors aim to find each student their best college fit. Sage Hill graduates thrive at top institutions of higher learning all over the country and the world.
Sage Hill welcomes, celebrates, and nurtures each student’s individual strengths and passions. Opportunities to engage in the community encompass athletics, the arts, student government, clubs, and so much more. Sage Hill students enjoy everything a typical high school offers, like pep rallies, proms, and plays. Plus, they have the advantage of a safe, supportive environment for exploring unique interests and trying new things.
Ninth Grade Experience
All ninth graders benefit from a year-long program designed to ensure a successful transition from middle school to high school. An autumn retreat, small advisory groups, special seminars, and designated classes for ninth graders serve to educate, inspire, and challenge the whole student.
Our public purpose initiatives encourage students to engage with the world beyond Sage Hill. Our Service Learning program is fully integrated into the curriculum, with options for upperclassmen to design their own service projects. As a fundamental component of Sage Hill’s mission, giving back to the community also becomes second nature to our students.
Beyond the Classroom
Opportunities to learn and grow extend well beyond the traditional classroom. Our Spring at Sage program offers year-end travel experiences and on and off-campus seminars to expose students to new areas of interest. Exclusively for Sage Hill students, the Sage Hill Internship Program (SHIP) provides dozens of summer opportunities in a vast range of professions and industries so students can gain hands-on work experience.
