Opening ceremonies for Sage Hill's Tenth Annual English Portfolio Evening begin on Tuesday, May 17 at 5:45 PM in Wilkins Town Square. The evening celebrates Sage Hill students’ work throughout the year in their English classes. This year’s theme is “Portfolio: World Tour” to recognize Sage Hill’s focus on developing and promoting cultural competency.

“Portfolio evening lets the students connect with and showcase their work to our community,” said Sage Hill English Department Chair Boyd Jorden. “It’s a valuable way for all our students to express themselves as readers, writers and commentators on their world. It is invigorating and inspiring to connect with their powerful expression.”

For this culminating assignment of the year, students reflect on a grade-level core question. They look back over their year’s reading, writing and personal experience in order to address how they plan to move forward and learn to define themselves as individuals, members of a community, as Americans, or as graduates of Sage Hill School.

The evening will kick off with introductory speaker Janis Jin, a Sage Hill senior. Attendance is mandatory for all students. Family and friends are invited to view Portfolio projects in the Peter V. Ueberroth Gymnasium (grades 9-11), and to talk to seniors about their projects in the classrooms located on the upper level of the D. Diane Anderson Humanities Building. Light refreshments will be available.
