President’s Message
Hello, and thanks for dropping by to find out what the Sage Hill Parent Association is up to of late. I’m pleased to report that the SHS Parent Association’s ship has set sail – full steam ahead to places unknown – with plenty of great adventures in store for the year. With many months left to chart our path, there’s no time like the present to climb aboard and join other Sage Hill parents on this amazing journey together.
Here are a few quick updates about our PA activities so far this year:
The Faculty-Staff Appreciation committee was first out of the gate, flawlessly executing a down-home barbecue luncheon on October 3, to thank all the people who support our students every day. We host luncheons every month or so, and if you’d like to help or donate a dish, email PAstaffappreciation@sagehill.org. Our wonderful Parent Grade Level Representatives helped students organize a host of fun events to launch the year. Setting the pace was the senior class, which enjoyed a well-attended movie night on campus. They watched Batman/the Dark Knight and camped out on the hillside for some solid action-packed scenes. With popcorn, drinks, and some perfect weather – a great time was had by all.
Another great success was the junior class “Tailgate” BBQ event, which took place in the upper parking lot before the varsity home football game on October 14. The 11th Grade Rep. parents stepped up with assistance from our PA SWAT special events team, to execute an event with everything from well-staffed grills serving up hot dogs; to bean-bag toss games; and a fully-inflated bounce house with basketball hoop, all of which provided ample entertainment for everyone attending.
Stay tuned for further updates on the sophomore and freshman class activities, as they are also fully engaged and keeping pace with the upper classmen!
This year’s Multicultural Fair co-chairs are taking the fun message as seriously as the planning and event execution. Be sure to ask about their monthly Multicultural Mixers, where parents come together and celebrate the diversity of our community, cultivate cultural awareness, and explore new opportunities to meet other Sage Hill parents.
The PA’s Parent Education committee works diligently to network with parents in our community and reach outside of it to bring in speakers of interest. They create opportunities for parents to make meaningful connections with one another, while sharing and participating in the many wonderful happenings that define the Sage Hill experience.
Working or otherwise, parents may want to check out Career Day to learn about some interesting opportunities for students to engage with Sage Hill parents and learn more about various occupations, or just to chat about the journey to a particular destination in one’s personal career path.
We are very excited about this dynamic forum, which truly is a creative work-in-progress. This year will mark the PA’s second annual career event, and with all the outstanding resources of our parent community, the possibilities are truly endless!
We are so fortunate to have a fantastic group of parent volunteers, with enthusiasm, resources, and dedicated interest in making the most of the opportunities we can provide for them through our Parent Association. There’s more to discover as the year unfolds, as this update is only an overview. If your committee isn’t mentioned here – don’t be alarmed! And if your particular interest hasn’t been piqued, stay tuned, because we have more exciting updates and many activities yet to come!
