Sage Hill Nets Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Twenty-six Sage Hill students were recently recognized in the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for outstanding achievement in themes including photography, painting, poetry, personal essay, short story, flash fiction and more.

These Sage Hill students earned 68 awards, which included 14 prestigious Gold Keys, the highest awards. These awards were handed out to art and writing students in the nine-state Western region.

The art categories saw Gold Key Awards go to Ariel Kang ’27 for painting, Grace Yan ‘25 for photography, Anna Yang '25 for fashion design and Meilin Shin '26 for Visual Arts. Sage Hill students also took home Gold Keys in writing categories including Ananya Devkirti ‘26 for critical essay, Grace Yan ‘25 for short story and critical essay, Jonathan Yan ’26 for personal essay, Grace Yang ‘25 for flash fiction and Jessica Zhang ‘26 for journalism.

Gold Key Award winners will be nominated for the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards set to be announced June 11.

"Each year I look forward to Sage Hill students finding appreciation for their works outside the walls of our classrooms,” English teacher Arlie Parker said. “Our students' success in this and other contests is a great affirmation of their talents and teachers’ dedication."
